The first randomised controlled trial of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for long COVID demonstrated significant improvement in cognitive, physical, and quality-of-life measures after 40 sessions at 2.0 ATA.
Two fatal hyperbaric chamber fires in 2025 prompted an FDA Letter to Health Care Providers reinforcing manufacturer-use instructions, static control, and electronics exclusion.
The Swedish HOT-LoCO phase II RCT (2025, Lancet Respir Med) found no significant benefit of 10 HBOT sessions vs sham in long COVID — fueling the dose debate against Efrati's 40-session protocol.
A 2024 Zilberman-Itskovich RCT (Nature Scientific Reports) found 60 sessions of HBOT at 2.0 ATA produced significantly greater symptom improvement than pregabalin+duloxetine in fibromyalgia patients with a history of childhood sexual abuse.
A 2024 Canadian multi-centre RCT (n=136) of 40-session HBOT in chronic stroke patients failed to replicate the Efrati Lab's earlier positive findings — raising hard questions about generalisability.
A 2025 Frontiers in Bioengineering review synthesises emerging evidence that HBOT combined with mesenchymal stem-cell exosomes produces synergistic effects on diabetic wounds, nerve regeneration, and macrophage polarisation.
HR 1336 (Veterans National TBI Treatment Act) passed the House VA Committee in May 2025. S.862 is pending in the Senate. State programs in TX, OK, FL, and 7 others continue to expand off-label HBOT access.
Hachmo et al. 2020 stunned the longevity world with telomere lengthening after HBOT. Half a decade on, independent replication remains elusive and the longevity marketing has moved faster than the science.
Aviv Clinics — the clinical application of the Sagol/Efrati Lab research — now operates in Florida and Dubai with over 1,000 patients treated. A look at what the three-month program actually involves.
